Centering Prayer Group

The root of prayer is interior silence. But how do you get any where near it? Our lives are busy and our minds even busier. Centering prayer is i modem name for a practice of meditation/prayer which opens us up to God's presence and action within. It has been called pure prayer, prayer of the heart and prayer of simplicity, and it is very simple.

Our Centering prayer group has now been meeting for over a year. We meet every Tuesday at 5.45pm at Blakeney Methodist Chapel on the High Street. We are together for about 40 minutes and spend 25 minutes in centering prayer. We then maybe have a reading. There is no hierarchy as we are all beginners and remain so but hopefully we start to fmd that interior silence which carries on into our daily life.

It is Christian prayer but you do not have to be a Christian or have any religious connection to join the group or practice centering prayer. We welcome anyone. If this sounds like something that interests you, come along and there is no charge!

If you want to talk to me first, ring me on 741016 or look it up on the web on www.centeringprayer-eastanglia.org.uk or buy or borrow "open mind open heart" by Thomas Keating.
