Blakeney Sailing Club

August is normally our busiest and best sailing time. Starting with the Blakeney Regatta races on Saturday the 31st July and Sunday 1st August. We then go into the Fun Week which commences on Saturday 7th August and should include an aquatic treasure hunt, a bike ride and a tennis tournament. We also hope to sail to the Point for a picnic, and possibly a sail down to Morston Creek and back along Agar Creek. The Fun Week ends with the Morston Regatta on Saturday 14th August.

We have a full week's racing programme for the week commencing Saturday 21thAugust, including the Junior Cups. At the end of the week is our annual summer supper and the club's AGM, also a weekend of races on the 28th and 29th August, including the Ladies Cup.

For further information on any of the August events please ring one of the numbers below.

Helpers and new members are very welcome. If you are interested, please come and see what we do, we will be happy to talk to you either while we are rigging our boats or while we are chatting beside the hut. There is a lot to get involved in for sailors and non-sailors alike.

Blakeney Scout Executive Committee

On June 26th the committee together with cubs, scouts and beavers with their leaders held a Sale in the Scout HQ for Help for Heroes and we raised £651.65 for this very worthwhile cause.

Our grateful thanks to everyone who made donations, baked cakes and gave prizes for tombola, raffle and competition and all the items for sale. It was lovely to see the leaders, boys and girls in their uniforms helping with the competitions and raffle.

It was a great afternoon and we thank everyone who helped and supported the sale to make it the success it was. The cheque for £651.65 has been sent to Help for Heroes.

Our next fund raising event is the refreshments at the Regatta Sports on August 8th starting at 1.30pm. If anyone feels like baking a cake we would be very grateful. This event is towards our HQ maintenance.
