BARRELS OF FUN!

If you haven’t got your tickets yet for our Victorian Evening on Saturday May 3rd, do telephone me (01263 712722). There will be music, merriment and…. barrel organs! We are very fortunate to have members of The British Organ Grinders’ Association coming to give a concert in the church. They will be coming in Victorian costume, as will I. So, if you would like to, get those costumes ready and add to the fun of the evening!

The evening will feature three street organs playing both traditional and more modern music; music from the barrel organ at St Andrew’s Church and songs accompanied by our regular church organ. There will be opportunity to get up close and see the barrel and street organs in action. Tickets (incl. refreshments) £7.50 for adults / £1.00 for children under 16.

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING

We had a very fruitful meeting on 4th April. Details of PCC officers and representatives are on display in the church porch. I have so enjoyed this first year as Churchwarden for St Andrew’s and am delighted to be continuing in the post. I would like to record my thanks to EVERYONE who has helped so much in making things happen here at St Andrew’s - to all on the PCC, Neil and Jo, and people in the village and across the Benefice. I am very thankful for all the support and encouragement so freely given. A special mention - WELCOME to our new PCC member, Mr Tim Nicholson. Thank you for joining us Tim!

A particular delight for me has been the involvement of our young people, both at Christmas and at our Family Communion Service. Thank you to all of you and here’s to many more such happy occasions.

BENEFICE FAMILY COMMUNION SERVICES

Our Marathon! To see the church full on Sunday April 13th (the date of the London Marathon) was fantastic. Our young people gave us a treat with their part of the service which took as its theme the Marathon and St Paul’s encouragement to us to Run the race set before us. We even had a song from them, Run, People, Run (very similar tune to a well-known wartime song!) Talking of singing, how lovely to have the choir. Thank you. It really added to the service. It was a joyous, uplifting service and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to all gather together for our worship. A special thank you to everyone who helped with the refreshments.

More news next month on Letheringsett Voices Reunion and an idea I have in mind ~ “An Audience with ….”
